Luka Tak Terlihat : Pengaruh Bullying Verbal Terhadap Harga Diri Siswa Mtss Yp Al- Azhar Medan

Abstract


This study aimed to examine the effect of verbal bullying on the self-esteem of seventh-grade students at MTsS YP Al-Azhar Medan. The study employed a quantitative approach using a correlational research design. The population consisted of all 91 seventh-grade students, all of whom were included as research participants using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a Verbal Bullying Scale developed based on the theory of Coloroso (2003) and a Self-Esteem Scale based on Coopersmith’s (1967) theory. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. The findings revealed that verbal bullying had a negative and statistically significant effect on students' self-esteem, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a regression coefficient of -0.390. These findings indicate that the higher the level of verbal bullying experienced by students, the lower their self-esteem. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the importance of preventing verbal bullying to promote adolescents' psychological well-being in the school environment. Therefore, schools, teachers, and parents are encouraged to implement bullying prevention programs and psychological support services to foster students' self-esteem.
